IBM 3995 Optical Library

The IBM 3995 Optical Library, based on the Plasmon M-Series Optical Library, offered storage configurations that ranged from 104GB (20 slots) to 1.3TB (258 slots) when configured with the last generation of IBM 5.2GB WORM drives.

In 2004, IBM announced the End-of-Life for the entire family of 3995 optical libraries, with End-of-Support scheduled for December 2010, at which time IBM may or may not be able to provide replacement drives or robotic parts for their libraries.

Plasmon Magneto-Optical libraries, offering capacities from 220GB to 5.8TB, are the direct replacement for IBM 3995 Magneto-Optical libraries.

For higher-capacity libraries based on a 60GB optical platter, Plasmon offers a full line of UDO Optical libraries with capacities that range from 1.4TB to 38TB in a single library.
