The spotlight is on the Plasmon G-238 Optical library, a "drop-in" replacement for End-of-Life Hewlett-Packard 1200ex, 2200mx, and 7100ux Optical libraries that are approaching their End-of-Support date of June 30, 2011.
For organizations that are not in the position to perform a full data migration to a different data archiving device, optical disks can simply be removed from an HP library and inserted into a Plasmon library, enabling a complete storage device replacement in just a few hours (time will vary depending on drive count, jukebox management software, and server O/S).
Additional features of the Plasmon G-238 Optical library that were NOT available in Hewlett-Packard 1200ex, 2200mx, and 7100ux libraries include hot-swap drives, redundant power supplies, and media barcode reader, as well as expansion capabilities from 238 slots to 438 and 638, compared to the maximum of 238 slots in HP optical libraries.
The Plasmon G-238 Optical library is the ONLY direct replacement available for HP optical libraries and are 100% compatible with leading jukebox management applications including FileNet OSAR, Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), EMC Disk Xtender, PoINT Jukebox Manager, and QStar HSM to name a few.
