Jukeman was a simple archive device manager that presented
a CD Jukebox or Optical Jukebox as a file
system with sub-folders named after the physical Volume
Label of each media surface. When compared to current
Jukebox Management Software products, iXOS Jukeman was
very limited in functionality, and offered no advanced
features such as Volume Sets, media spanning, automated
file migration, or automated media copy.
During its lifespan,
iXOS Jukeman went through a number of acquisitions
by other companies, including Smart
Storage, OTG, EMC, and ultimately EMC, until it
was finally discontinued several years ago. As with
the
discontinuation of ALL software products, no further
product updates or technical support is available
for iXOS Jukeman.
For those customers who used iXOS
Jukeman to archive data to Magneto-Optical media,
PoINT Jukebox Manager
offers an optional File System Reader that will
read Magneto-Optical platters that were written using
the
proprietary iXOS IFS/IXW file system.
By providing
a true “plug-and-play” module
that can read an iXOS IFS/IXW file system, customers
can now use PoINT Jukebox Manager to read iXOS
formatted Magneto-Optical platters, and eliminate
the burden
and costs of performing a migration to newer media
types
and file systems.
